Sierra Blanca

The Sierra Blanca is a mountain range located in the province of Málaga between the Costa del Sol and the Sierra de las Nieves, between the municipalities of Istan, Ojén, Marbella and Monda. It takes its name from the whitish color of its limestone rock. The mountain range is part of the Baetic System.

The mountain range lies almost directly behind Marbella and is prominently visible from the whole town. Due to its great prominence, the views from the peaks of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar are spectacular.

The highest point of the mountains is at 1,275 metres on the Cerro del Lastonar. Other major peaks include the Pico de la Concha, Cruz de Juanar and La Zarina.
